12.18.20 Community Update
Posted 12/18/20

Dear Miller Creek Community,

As we prepare for the winter holiday, we want to acknowledge how challenging our fall semester has been as we navigate COVID-19 in our community. We want to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all our students, teachers, support staff, administrators and school families for their dedication and perseverance during this unique time. We know we share a common interest in the success of students in the Miller Creek School District.

Community Forum

We are excited and ready to resume in-person instruction on January 4, 2021. Our community continues to have a spectrum of thought about opening schools with some members eager to return and others questioning the safety. For those seeking additional safety rationale for keeping schools open, you can hear directly from Public Health experts, Dr. Willis and Dr. Santora, who support our reopening work. They are hosting a webinar for the community on Monday, January 4th from 1:00pm-2:00pm where they will provide an update, share data, and include an opportunity for Q&A. Visit this page for the webinar link and information on how to submit questions in advance.

Community Support

Our holiday celebrations are certainly going to be different this year due to COVID-19. According to Public Health data, most of the new COVID-19 infections are a result of the gathering of multiple households over Thanksgiving. For this holiday season and winter break, it is extremely important to be vigilant about adhering to the current Stay at Home Order. Now is not the time to let our guard down!  Support our community effort and join over 200 people who have signed this community pledge and promised to do their part in keeping our schools open.

Community Testing

On December 28 and 29 the Miller Creek School District will host a community COVID testing event in the parking lot of Miller Creek Middle School using the Curative test kits that we use for our staff testing. The tests are non-invasive oral swabs and the results are shared within 48 hours. Thank you to the outpouring of parent volunteers who have signed up to support this event. Community Appreciation

What a surprise 2020 has been! We naturally begin to look forward to 2021 as the year winds to a close and hold great hope for what the new year will bring. We continue to be truly inspired by how our entire Miller Creek School District community has stared down the challenges of this year and responded with strength and grace. We know we can face whatever 2021 brings and look forward to doing so as a community.

Wishing you a wonderful and safe holiday season.
