First Day of School & Staying Healthy
Posted 8/18/21

Dear Miller Creek Families,

The first day of school is tomorrow!

Please remember to do daily home symptom screening of your child before sending them to school. If your child has any of the following symptoms do not send them to school as they need to get a COVID test or isolate for 10 days:

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Loss of taste or smell

  • Fever (100.4 or higher) or chills

  • Sore throat

  • Diarrhea

  • Body ache

  • Fatigue

  • Headache

  • Congestion / runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

Marin County Public Health has designed two Decision Trees to help inform decisions related to individuals experiencing COVID symptoms or having been exposed to COVID and school attendance. Here is a link to the current Decision Tree for Schools for fully vaccinated people and here is a link to the Decision Tree for Schools for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people. Our school health staff will use these Decision Trees when making decisions as schools.

The use of the following mitigation strategies will help keep our students and staff healthy.

  • Getting vaccinated.

  • Staying home when sick.

  • Wearing face coverings both indoors and outdoors. Please review how to wear a face covering correctly with your child (covering nose and mouth, secured under chin, avoid touching). MCSD health staff will review how to properly wear face coverings with students as well.

  • Frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizer.

  • Daily cleaning of classrooms.

  • Keeping clean air moving indoors using open doors and windows, HVAC systems, HEPA air purifiers, and needle-point bipolar ionizers.

  • Limiting visitors. Those that are allowed must show proof of vaccination.

You may view completed individual School Site Specific Protection Plans on the school’s website.

Have a great first day!
